The weather forecast called for rain all day, and so our prospects looked bleak. However, we were lucky that the rain held out for most of the day, and only disturbed our festivities for an hour or so in the early evening. We had sun shining down on us for most of the day, and the rain passed allowing us to launch the fireworks in comfort.

The day started with various activities on the street, such as facepainting, water balloons and a bouncy castle. Food was provided by the families of Gorham Way, and resulted in a large variety of delicious items to choose from. Games were organized in the park, and we found ourselves running with eggs on spoons, bouncing with balloons between our legs, and tossing bean bags for points. It was a lot of fun. The bean bag toss was improvised, and moved near the park gazebo to shelter the participants from the rain.

The day ended with an amazing fireworks display, organized by Ed. We were impressed by the length of the display, and truly enjoyed the entire show. The fireworks finished up around 10:30 PM, and many sleepy children (and parents) made their way to bed.

I like the idea of maintaining the photos in Picasa, and highlighting them here. Of course, it won’t be long before I will need to start paying, as my 1 GIG would be gone quickly if I use picasa faithfully.

I have been trying some other photo gallery WordPress plugin’s, such as NextGen, but i find it a bit cumbersome to set up the albums. Who knows, maybe that is the route I will go. All I know, is running joomla as before, with Zen Photo was getting problematic. The other option is a standalone photo gallery as before – either Gallery2, ZenPhoto or Coppermine. I am not convinced that is the way to go as Eva is be upset that the simplicity is gone.
